Day two, April 29th, began with a welcome, registration, and a recap of the first day's discussions. The primary focus of the morning was Work Package 5 (WP5), presented by InterAktion, which encompassed video game piloting actions, impact assessment, communication and dissemination plans, and the exploitation of project results for a post-project strategy. A short coffee break was followed by a synthesis of decisions and next steps, a meeting evaluation, and the distribution of certificates of participation by UJI and UoL. The meeting officially concluded with a visit to the Agios Ioannis o Eleimon Community centre of Social Services. We visited their headquarters with their therapy rooms and met the personnel, as well as their community kitchen where they prepare food for the marginalised as well as those students who need a warm meal. Working closely with the church the centre is having a real impact in Limassol and the surrounding.
On April 28th and 29th, 2025, the University of Limassol in Cyprus hosted the kick-off meeting for "InnerWorlds: A Videogame Journey Through Teen Depression and Social Pressures". The meeting, co-funded by the European Union, brought together participants to discuss the project's various work packages and establish a roadmap for future activities.
Day one, April 28th, commenced with a welcome and registration, outlining the meeting's agenda and goals. The morning session focused on Work Package 1 (WP1), led by UJI, covering project management, administrative and ethical issues, commissions and committees, and financials. Following a coffee break and a group photo, the University of Limassol (UoL) presented Work Package 2 (WP2), detailing its work plan and initiating discussions on actions. After a lunch break, UJI presented Work Package 3 (WP3), and UoL presented Work Package 4 (WP4), both involving discussions on their respective work plans and actions. During the entire meeting we were accompanied by one of the main actors, our game developer from UJI, Águeda Gómez Cambronero and the section leader of the INIT Inmaculada Remolar Quintana. The day concluded with a social dinner in the city.
What was it about?
This meeting was crucial for the successful start of the project, considering the complexity of the content that should be created and the impact that we have envisaged as consortium over the young people (adolescents) in the 4 countries, to be achieved with all the regulations and laws considered. With 2 universities on board and local NGOs and community centres, as well as Águeda :) we are confident that we will achieve the goals of the project and planned results. The personal connections that Erasmus+ allowed to happen in the mean time act as wind in the sails of the consortium, taking this project forward and our friendships further.
We left Limassol with clear(er) ideas of what our next steps are, who we are targeting and how the local stakeholders of our projects are, as well as how to involve them and inform them.
