The InnerWorlds journey is a multi-phased international initiative involving youth workers and adolescents from Austria, Spain, Cyprus, and Romania. Central to our mission is the active, professional involvement of youth workers in the co-creation of our mental health mobile game.
To facilitate this, we conducted an intensive one-week training program at Universitat Jaume I (UJI) in Spain. Hosted by the INIT Department, the event brought together 24 youth workers from our partner countries to engage in a deep dive into the project’s core pillars. By merging the expertise of psychologists with the technical insights of game developers, the training equipped these professionals with the specialized tools needed to guide young people through the InnerWorlds experience.

Strategic Capacity Building: InnerWorlds - LTTA Week

InnerWorlds is an ambitious project dedicated to developing a mobile game that promotes mental health among adolescents. Our goal is to provide young people with a meaningful tool for self-reflection, transforming passive screen time into a journey of self-discovery.
Every aspect of InnerWorlds is co-created with our target audience, including both youth workers and the young people themselves. To facilitate this, we hosted a week of intensive workshops and lectures. These sessions were designed to deepen participants' understanding of psychological concepts and game mechanics, challenge common stereotypes about gaming, and explore our roles as creators.

Throughout the week, experts from UJI and UOL shared insights into the intersection of psychology and gaming. Participants tested newly developed games, practiced articulating complex emotions, and built resilience by exploring the interconnectedness of their internal worlds and the environment around them.

On the Programme

And while in Spain...

Did you know that the Holy Grail is in Valencia? Housed in the Chapel of the Holy Chalice at Valencia Cathedral, considered by tradition and some scholars to be the chalice used by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper, it was there, in front of our eyes. We had the chance to visit the city of arts and sciences, culture-rich, alive, and beautiful. While the InnerWorlds was presented at the annual International Technology, Education and Development Conference (INTED 2026) by Dr. Markella Grigoriou, we could explore the city, including the Silk Exchange, the closed Market and enjoy that interesting audio experience of the Mascletas of March 9 2026 when the city gathered at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento for the fireworks and the explosions - an experience we recommend to anyone that enjoys mild cultural shocks. :)
